fifty three

i am fortunate to have met my soul mate, many are not as lucky. but one of my patient's seems even more blessed than me.

while working with him today (he's known for his humor and sarcasm), we were discussing how everything in life has it's ups and downs, pros and cons, good and bad sides. he stopped for a minute then said: "no, i don't think that's true". i asked him what he thought didn't fit the mold. he stated: "my marriage". i jokingly asked if it was all good or all bad. he replied, quite seriously: "all good. there was no bad at all. she was the love of my life." he's 94 years old, cute as a button, and had been married to his wife for 68 years before she passed away from alzheimers. even though i'm not necessarily a marriage advocate in today's society, that's still pretty remarkable.
